Get Ready — Swimming Courses Launching Soon in Malaysia!
MSTA & IOA Malaysia Collaboration
Greetings from the Malaysia Swimming Teachers Association (MSTA). We have been proud partners with the Institute of Aquaphobia (IOA) since its conception, providing exclusive Aquaphobia Teacher Certification to Malaysian swimming instructors.
Since its inception, MSTA has partnered with the Institute of Aquaphobia to provide exclusive Aquaphobia Teacher Certification to Malaysian teachers. IOA certifications equip instructors with specialized tools to break the barrier of fear when teaching learners with aquaphobia.
The Aquaphobia Learning program is designed to be multi-cultural and inclusive, suitable for all ages and skill levels. Our certified IOA Aquaphobia Tutors—May Ang, Bryan Ng, and Dany Ang—actively run and promote these specialized courses nationwide.
We are immensely proud of our ability to nurture teachers who understand and provide careful, compassionate approaches when working with individuals who have aquaphobia. This partnership represents more than just certification—it's about transforming fear into confidence, one student at a time.
Through this collaboration, Malaysian swimming instructors gain access to internationally recognized training methodologies that prioritize emotional safety alongside physical skill development. The IOA approach has revolutionized how we address water fear in Malaysia, creating more inclusive swimming environments across the country.
Managed by certified IOA Aquaphobia Tutor Bryan Ng, Shark Fin Swim Academy has fully integrated aquaphobia methods into their curriculum, opening new possibilities for helping both adults and children overcome their fear of water.
Their groundbreaking "Comfort Zone Layering" approach represents a paradigm shift in aquatic education—building water confidence through emotional reassurance before introducing physical skills. This step-by-step methodology has proven remarkably effective.
At Shark Fin Swim Academy, we've witnessed incredible transformations: adults who once refused to even approach a pool now confidently float, glide, and enjoy deep water activities with calm, controlled breathing. The most rewarding moments come when we see fear dissolve into pure joy, proving conclusively that with proper guidance and empathy, anyone can learn to trust the water.
The academy's success with the IOA methodology led to its nomination as an official IOA Aquaphobia Swim School in 2022. Bryan Ng and his team continue to pioneer new approaches to water fear management, serving as a model for other swim schools throughout Malaysia and beyond.
Their work demonstrates that addressing aquaphobia requires more than just technical swimming instruction—it demands psychological understanding, patience, and a carefully structured approach that respects each individual's unique fears and boundaries.
Managed by certified IOA Aquaphobia Tutor Dany Ang, Days Perfect Swim specializes in working with students who have aquaphobia, particularly children and individuals with past traumatic water experiences or near-drowning incidents.
With a team of IOA-trained Aquaphobia coaches, DPS provides dedicated programs that help students slowly rebuild comfort and confidence around water. Their systematic approach has helped countless individuals overcome deep-seated fears.
At DAYS PERFECT SWIM, we've developed specialized expertise in helping students manage the emotional aspects of water fear. We utilize the P.A.R. (Perception, Assessment, Response) fear assessment tool alongside carefully selected relaxation techniques to help students understand and regulate their emotional responses to water.
This combination has proven highly effective in helping students feel safer and more in control. With steady guidance, emotional support, and a deeply compassionate approach, many of our students who once panicked at the thought of water have not only overcome their fear but have learned to swim with genuine confidence.
Like Shark Fin Swim Academy, DPS was nominated as an official IOA Aquaphobia Swim School in 2022, recognizing their exceptional work in this specialized field. The school serves as a safe haven for those who need extra care and patience in their aquatic journey, proving that with the right approach, even the deepest water fears can be overcome.
Our success stories include children who once screamed at bath time now enjoying pool parties, and adults who avoided beaches for decades now planning snorkeling vacations. These transformations represent the heart of what we do at DPS.
MSTA continues its journey with IOA, reaching out to more individuals with aquaphobia and bringing the joy of aquatic activities to everyone. The Aquaphobia Learning program remains multi-cultural and inclusive for all ages and levels, ensuring that no one is left behind due to fear.
Through our certified swim schools and trained instructors, we're creating a ripple effect of positive change throughout Malaysia's swimming community. Each student who overcomes their fear becomes a testament to what's possible with proper support and methodology.
